WHAT IS IT?

The Story Codex is a collaborative tool for designing, documenting, and communicating the high-level narrative for immersive and interactive stories. Designed to be equally useful for linear, branching, and open-world projects, this new framework also empowers collaborators across disciplines — both writers and non-writers alike — to shape the narrative design of an experience.

WHO CREATED IT?

This open-access tool was created by SCAD professor and former Walt Disney Imagineer Abigail Taylor-Sansom.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Your team will use the Story Codex Builder to determine answers to the twenty-one canonical questions. Your answers then become the "story rules" of your project — rules that can provide guidance for the entirety of the design and production process.
